We had the pleasure working with Esem Projects and contributing to the Rutherford’s Den. We created a 360 immersive installation which played a generative animation on the history of the theory of the atom. The central focus of this installation was Rutherford’s discovery of the proton using the gold foil experiment.
User interaction testing. Movement is used to trigger alpha rays which demonstrate Rutherford’s gold foil experiment when they collide and deflect with the atoms nucleus.
Prototype of the installation setup at our studio. 4 projector feeds were projection mapped and blended onto the cylindrical surface. Infrared camera and lights were mounted at the top for user tracking.
