Gold Foil Experiment

Interactive 360 experience at the Rutherford Museum.

We had the pleasure working with Esem Projects and contributing to the Rutherford's Den. We created a 360 immersive installation which played a generative animation on the history of the theory of the atom. The central focus of this installation was Rutherford's discovery of the proton using the gold foil experiment.

User interaction testing. Movement is used to trigger alpha rays which demonstrate Rutherford's gold foil experiment when they collide and deflect with the atoms nucleus.

Timelapse of Rutherford's Den being transformed. At the centre of the room is the 360 projection of the Gold Foil Experiment.
